How secure is your network?

The recent attack on DNS servers located on the east coast created scores of website outages. This is a good reminder of the need to be on top of your own network security.  One of the interesting things about this attack, is that many of the devices used to overload the DNS servers were smart home devices.   When was the last time you reviewed your network devices for up to date Antivirus? up to date Firmware? Gateway protection to your private network?  All of these items play a critical role in keeping network intrusion a non issue.  Many enterprise companies are now offering smaller scale security appliances for home and small business use that did not exist before.   This should be a consideration for even the smallest of organizations.
